10:30 AM-2:00 PM LOAD-IN: |
Load-in and space assignments, raffles, silent auction featuring $1000's of killer gear, "World's Fastest Drummer" contest, giveaways and performances.
We will have T-shirts for sale as well as a Snare Tuning Station where $15 will get you a NEW Evans or Remo head
professionally installed and tuned. We will have lots of guest artists during this time on 2 stages...performances start at 11:00 am and continue until 2:00 pm...featuring non-stop performances from Bloco Alegria, Portland Percussion Group, Capoeira Angola, Mark Griffith, MaracaBoom, Miguel Bernal, Israel Annoh, Sebe Kan Djembe Ensemble, Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers, Zuulibaa, Ritim Egzotik, Jen Burns, Hough Youth Escola de Samba, Brothers of the Baladi, Donny Osborne, Bobby Torres and Convergence III, and also, special guest Tony Coleman (BB King), 2011 Blues Drummer of the Year. |
| 2:15 PM: | The Big Beat will begin with our local conductor and Pink Martini drummer, Brian Davis, going over the grooves, hand signals, drum sections, and structure of the music. We will have a couple of "Play-Along" songs to get warmed-up with, and then we will go LIVE with 14 other cities, via a lead conductor in Seattle, at exactly 2:45 PM Pacific Time. |
| ABOUT 3:15 or so: | This year, the World Premier of Bobby Torres' Convergence III takes to the stage! This super-group of local pros will include guest appearances by Bobby Torres and others... in an original percussion piece featuring breaks, grooves, ensemble figures, and solos using drums of all shapes & sizes! Check back for more details as we get them. |
| AROUND 3:30 or 4:00: | Prizes!! Prizes awarded for fastest drummer, coolest drumset, ugliest drumset, youngest drummer and lots more. Tell all your friends and come join in the drumming event of 2011! |
