We will celebrate the Grand Opening of our new location at 3904 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in
Portland, Oregon,
the entire week of July 6-12. The week long event will feature workshops, product demonstrations,
live performances, FREE classes, Portland's "fastest drummer" contest, Sabian Day, Yamaha Day,
Zildjian Day, our biggest sale EVER and raffles. The week long Rhythm Fest 2009 will culminate
Saturday, July 11th, with a street fair, including LIVE performances on our outdoor stage.
Our Sale will be amazing! Every department has huge markdowns, including many special promotions that we can't advertise!  Famoudou Konate Workshop 2008 |

Our Steer Skins are back in stock! Water Buffalo vs. Steer? When you hear Latin
recordings from the 60's and 70's, (usually on Gon Bops or Valje's), what you are hearing is Steer. Most Congas today, (manufactured by LP, Toca,
Pearl, Meinl, to name a few) are made in Thailand and they use the closest relative of the Steer that they can inexpensively use...the Water Buffalo.
Steer has a warmer tone and is more melodic. Usually "white-ish" and opaque in appearance...perfect for Rumba. We carry both Steer and Water Buffalo...and we offer quantity discounts to drum builders! Go to our SUPPLIES section to order and for more info. |
