We are pleased to present a Masterclass with Cuban Timbalero, Eduardo Velazquez. Many of you may be familiar with his work as timbale player with Chispa Y los Complices in the early 2000's.

This 2 hour Masterclass assumes you have working knowledge of popular Latin music styles, and will offer advanced variations. Participants will learn salsa and timba grooves, rolls, breaks, and rides as well as how to incorporate those patterns into solo phrases.

Working together with a conga player, Eduardo will demonstrate marcha/tumbao with various clave and bell patterns. In addition to Timba grooves, Eduardo will demonstrate Havana-style interpretations for Cumbia and Reggaeton.

This is as hands-on as you want it to be. We will have multiple timbale sets for a hands-on experience. Intermediate players and non-timbale players alike (such as conga, bass or keys) who prefer just to observe are also encouraged to attend! Please bring a practice pad/sticks if you have it.
