Newly Launched Brazilian Rhythm Lab At Rhythm Traders!!!!!

We're super excited to announce the recent launch of our Brazilian Rhythm Lab every Wednesday.

Brazilian Rhythm Lab with members of Portland Samba (Wednesdays 5:15-6:30pm): Designed for beginning students, established drummers wanting to probe deeper, and music teachers alike. Students will specialize in their chosen instrument (surdo, tamborim, repinique, caixa, pandeiro, ago-go, timbau, etc) in a low pressure and supportive setting while gaining familiarity with all the instruments used to play popular Brazilian rhythms including Samba, Samba-Reggae, Pagode, and Maracatu. For those performance inclined, this course will serve as an introduction and feeder group to local samba ensembles. This is Ongoing/Drop-in. Wednesdays 5:15-6:30. Bring your instrument if you have one but some instruments will be provided. Free class lesson with purchase of a Samba instrument. Taught in rotation by members of the Portland Samba community. $20

Instructor:  Courtney Danley
Instructor Bio:  Courtney Danley multi-percussionist fluent in Brazilian styles. She has been playing percussion since the age of 7 performing in elite youth and adult ensembles in a range of styles including marching percussion, Drum Corps International, band and wind ensembles, modern percussion ensembles, Senegalese styles and Brazilian percussion. Her passion is curating community through music performance fueled by love of Samba culture. A lifelong learner, Courtney has spent 14 months in Brazil playing in samba schools, learning from Master teachers. Courtney is founder of Go Samba, a Brazilian musical instrument import company specializing in hard to source drums from Brazil, is the Oregon Chapter Secretary for the Percussive Arts Society.
